Tracking Inventory Totes in the 21st Century L. Allen Bennett Tuesday, 4:10pm — 5:00pm Manufacturing
Overview: Freightliner-Western Star, the best-selling brand of heavy-duty Class 8 trucks in North America, affirmed its commitment to innovation and technology through the deployment of a world-class RFID solution to track inventory replenishment throughout their manufacturing facility located in Portland, Oregon. The management team was looking for a way to accurately and automatically track parts movement from inventory to the factory floor. The process called for parts needed on the production line to be put into inventory totes, placed on mobile tugs and then transferred onto the Shop Floor. The empty totes are returned to the warehouse replenishment. The Portland facility utilizes approximately 750 totes in 5 different sizes. The previous method of tracking the parts was labor intensive from a data collection and data input standpoint, as well as, beset with erroneous data. RFID Technology was successfully installed as a comprehensive tool effectively integrating with the existing technology used at the Portland plant and so successful that this solution was rolled out to all plants nationwide! Come see how RFID Technology really works in the 21th Century!

Motorola, Entigral Systems Team on Elegant WIP Solution at RFID World 2007 in Dallas, TX!

High Point, NC – 28 March, 2007 - In its first public demonstration, Motorola (Booth 1707) and its software partner Entigral Systems are unveiling an innovative business flow solution for the supply chain, manufacturing and asset management industries at Motorola's booth. The demonstration will run for the duration of the show at Motorola's booth. The companies will demonstrate how asset management, work-in-process (WIP) and supply chain applications can be designed for simple installation and ease-of-use. Motorola's RD5000 mobile reader, XR400 fixed reader and MC9090-G handheld reader will track boxes in a simulated deployment using the Traxware® software developed by Entigral Systems. Three colors will be used for the boxes to indicate different assets or assembly pieces. When a colored box comes into range, the corresponding reader will detect the box, update an LCD monitor with the color and signal a corresponding stacklight to begin blinking. As the colored box passes other readers—or a new colored box is introduced—the LCD will reflect the change automatically along with the stacklight. The visual cues and simple software user interface make tracking tools, parts and other assets more intuitive for the employee in the plant or in the field. "If the demo sounds simple, that's the point," says Motorola's Chris Schaefer. "As closed loop and asset management applications like the Traxware solution grow in number. RFID is getting easier to deploy in the real world." "With this dynamic application, we hope to break through the noise of new product announcements to show how RFID is being used to drive real ROl for closed-loop, supply chain and asset management deployments today." says L. Allen Bennett, CEO and president of Entigral Systems. (extracted from RFID World News - The Official RFID World Conference Newspaper)
